This is Alex and he is from the Ukraine. I don't know if he immigrated or he came here as a refugee, it seemed impolite to ask. What I do know is that he is very smart and a pleasure to go on a paddle with. If the Ukraine has more people like him to spare, we'll take them.
He likes to paddle seated, as you can see. We all expected him to go into the drink in the shallow rapid. Not once, not on many runs. The guy is Steady Eddie.
